Android TV is causing a big buzz in the media and entertainment industry, catching the attention of pay-TV operators in a way that we haven’t seen since 4K UHD came on the scene. Like with 4K UHD, many industry conversations are revolving around the impact of Android TV on the media and entertainment business. However, the difference this time is that there’s a fair amount of apprehension.
Unlike 4K, where operators were simply looking for the best way and time to support it, Android TV challenges operators to make a choice. The issue is that while there are clear business benefits to the adoption of Android TV, the open nature of the platform is making some operators nervous and many worry about how to secure this open platform from abuse.
